What are the qualifications required for becoming a technical writer?

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communication and related field is most appropriate but now a days clients ask for computer science, engineering or medical science related technical documents so people with experiences or degrees in these kinds of fields are also in demand.
Simply if you can write informative content with zero grammatical and other types of errors, you can understand/follow the format(many samples are available over the internet ) and you have excellent research skills then congratulations you are a technical writer who just need to practice, practice and practice..
